See’s Candies uses first operational shutdown since WWII to upgrade its facility lighting.
Amidst global COVID-19 stay at home orders, See’s Candies suspended operations to keep their employees safe. Opening their doors for business in 1921, this was See’s Candies first operational shutdown in their 99-year history since the food shortages that were seen during WWII caused them to pause production. See’s Candies took advantage of having empty facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic by hiring Earth Savers to upgrade their existing lighting systems.
Earth Savers’ certified installers who were closely following CDC guidelines and recommendations removed existing high bay fixtures and lamps and replaced them with energy-saving LED versions in their headquarters office and several other facilities in the San Francisco area as well as a facility in Carson, California. The retrofitting of existing fixtures with LED fixtures and bypass lamps resulted in immediate energy savings for See’s Candies, reducing energy consumption by 40-50%, as well as reducing maintenance costs and greatly improving lighting performance in these facilities.
